Discover Earth is coming to West Florida Public Library

DISCOVER EARTH is coming! The West Florida Public Library announces an ongoing interactive museum exhibit and program series beginning July 30 through Sept 27. WFPL is honored to be one of ten library systems in the United States to receive the Discover Earth exhibit. This interactive, museum quality exhibit is designed to engage children in science, technology, engineering and Math (STEM) activities. Plan to spend time at the Main Library with your child exploring our world through hands-on, computer generated activities.

During the exhibit’s stay, a variety of fascinating STEM- related programs will take place at the Main Library on Thursday evenings at 6pm and at library branches at various times. Most programs will be for the whole family. Programs include an astronomy presentation from internationally renowned astrophysicist, Dr. Kevin Manning; a Blue Angels presentation and discussion; weather forecasting from NOAA; marine biology for our local waters; a look at our Pensacola sky from our own Pensacola planetarium; a visit from the MESS Hall; and even how newborns discover their world when they first open their eyes. Come explore science, technology, engineering and math, and enjoy programs that focus on the many wonders of our planet. For more details, please visit our website at www.mywfpl.com.

Discover Earth is made possible through the support of the National Science Foundation. The exhibit and its educational support materials and outreach opportunities are part of the STAR (Science-Technology Activities and Resources) Library Education Network (STAR_Net), a hands-on learning program for libraries and their communities.

With sincere appreciation to the Friends of the West Florida Public Library, without whom this grant would not have been possible.
