Does Escambia need to spend money on rapid testing?

Maybe the Escambia County Commission needs to rethink using $1.25 million of CARES Act funding for rapid testing.

At his daily press conference,  Gov. Ron DeSantis today announced Florida will be receiving 6.4 million rapid antigen tests from the federal government.

Escambia County has taken so long to spend ts CARES Act monies that the allocation recommended by County Administrator Janice Gilley may not longer be needed, thanks to test kits provided by the Trump Administration.

The county needed the rapid testing in July and early August when the positivity rate was above 13%.  Today the positivity rate was 2.2% for 2,961 test results.

Put the million into more family assistance and get the rapid test kits from the state.
