Does Touart really know the current county staff?


I listened to WUWF’s coverage of the Escambia County Commission hiring George Touart as the interim county administrator until a full-time one is hired. In his motion, Commissioner Gene Valentino cited Touart for knowing the staff and could thereby provide a seamless transition.

Touart was fired in September 2007. The county government has changed considerably since he ruled the county.

Most of the department heads that were with the county when George Touart was county administrator five years are gone. Over 50 employees-including 37 department heads and supervisors) were offered severance packages in 2008 (Read more). Also the HR Director Rod Powell and PIO Sonya Daniel have moved on to other jobs.
