The petition drive by Marty Donovan and Jack Nobles doesn’t stop the construction of the multi-use stadium at the Community Maritime Park. The Donovan/Nobles petition is about the Design & Build contract—which was passed to break up the construction of the entire park into separate components and avoid the paying a general contractors fee to Maritime Park Development Partners for the site preparation and dredging.
If Nobles and Donovan are successful in getting the necessary signatures AND the referendum passes to rescind the Design & Build contract, all the agreements will fail under the Master Development agreement with MPDP and the City will have to pat three percent GC fee to MPDP.
The stadium will be built. Sorry, Marty and Jack. Enjoy your radio interviews and your 15-minutes of fame.
