Downtown Parking recommendations – higher rate, longer hours

Today, Olive Tree Consulting will present its parking report to the Pensacola City Council. The consultant will recommend expanding the on-street paid parking hours from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. to 8 a.m.-12 a.m. and increasing the hourly charge from 50 cents to $1.

Reason for extended paid hours: On-street parking spaces are indisputably the most sought-after parking solutions in urban settings. Their convenience and accessibility make them prime assets for residents, commuters, and visitors alike. Contrary to traditional belief, demand for these spots does not wane after 7 p.m.

New hourly rate: In an effort to establish a balanced and equitable approach to parking pricing, it is recommended to consider a base price for parking that takes into account the median income of similar cities and their respective average parking rates
