The Downtown Improvement Board (DIB) and organizers of the Wine Festival located in Downtown Pensacola are cancelling the scheduled Wine Festival on October 5, 2013 due to Tropical Storm “Karenâ€.
The tough decision was made in order to protect the safety and interests of the attendees, vendors, participants and festival volunteers. The festival was scheduled to be held in the open deck of the Jefferson Street Parking Garage and due to expected heavy rains and winds, even a move to the enclosed second floor cannot off-set potential risks. “We waited as long as responsibly possible to make this decision and Mother Nature forced our hand. It is with great regret to postpone the event but it is the right thing to do,†said Ron Butlin, Director of the DIB.
The new date for the Wine Festival will be the same time on Sunday afternoon, December 8th 2013. Guests who purchased tickets in advance can elect a full refund of their original purchase up to October 15th, 2013. Otherwise, the ticket will be valid for the future date.
