New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was yesterday doused with chilly ice water as part of the viral “Ice Bucket Challenge” designed to raise awareness for ALS. Under the challenge, one person challenges another to either make a donation to the ALS Association or undergo a chilly ice-bucket bath–most do both. The ALS Association said donations have surged in the last week because of the viral social media challenges.
Brees has a special connection to the ALS Association. Former Saints player Steve Gleason is battling ALS, commonly called Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
The Saints quarterback was challenged by Today Show co-host Hoda Kotb and was doing it in honor of Gleason. Brees has challenged Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, golfer Bubba Watson and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Maybe Bubba will do it a Wahoos game and challenge Quint Studer to join him.
