East Hill resident asks for town hall meeting on community center

We received this memo that has been sent to Mayor Ashton Hayward and the Pensacola City Council:

To: Mayor and Council Members of the City of Pensacola

From: David Oberhausen

Re: Any upcoming pre-bid/negotiation meeting/conference related to the planned East Hill Community Center

I am contacting you to respectfully stress my strong belief that it is imperative that a public meeting be held prior to any pre-bid/negotiation meeting/conference concerning the proposed community center to be built at Bayview Park in the East Hill neighborhood of the city.

Given the long and winding road associated with the process of the planning, public meetings, preliminary and revised designs, bid submissions and budget revisions, I believe a significant number of East Hill and other City of Pensacola residents are not aware of exactly what the latest/current proposed design for the building is.

In the interest of transparency, good government, and consistency with the way the process was started several years ago, I ask that you use the tried and true methods of mailing post cards, posting signs and involving the PNJ and Inweekly to communicate a notice of a meeting to update the community on the latest rendition of the proposed new center at least two weeks in advance of such meeting. It would also be appropriate that the meeting be held at least a week in advance of any pre-bid/negotiation session.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
