ECAT bus service cancelled for Thursday

Escambia County was placed under a local state of emergency as a response to the severe weather front that has impacted the County. Overnight, ECAT buses took in a significant amount of water at the ECAT Rosa Parks Transfer Facility at the corner of L Street and Fairfield Drive.

Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) is cancelling bus service for Thursday May 1, 2014. ECAT will not run bus service or UWF Trolley service.

Due to the water in the ECAT buses, ECAT Staff must thoroughly inspect each bus for safety and road-worthiness, early Thursday morning. Another factor in ECAT’s determination of restoring service is working with the County on the status of road safety and closures.

ECAT employees are not to report to work. ECAT employees should contact their immediate supervisor, if they have any additional questions.

The safety of ECAT employees and passengers are our utmost concern. ECAT will notify the public as soon as the ECAT vehicles are safe and we are able to travel safely on the roads of Escambia County.
