Gulf Coast Economics Club brings in policy advisor, Christian Camara, from right-wing Heartland Institute, which has been backed by the Koch Brothers. The Heartland Institute was worked hard to debunk Climate Change. Camara is the director of the Florida Insurance Project of the Heartland Institute’s Center on Risk, Regulation, and Markets. His goal is to redo the state insurance regs.
His basic premise: Government should not dictate insurance rates. Instead the regulators should go after fraud and make sure companies selling policies in Florida are able to pay customers’ claim.
Sounds great….except with the insurers triple and quadruple rates as they have since Hurricane Ivan.
