Escambia County Public Schools (ECPS) has again partnered with Manna Food Pantries to collect non-perishable food items for those in need in Escambia County.
- Why this matters: The district’s holiday food drive for Manna is one that is critical to Manna’s ability to feed neighbors in need in the winter months, when donations slow after the ‘giving season’ has ended. For more than a decade, the generosity of ECPS employees and families has made hundreds of thousands of meals possible for the children, senior citizens, veterans, families, and individuals served by Manna.
Twenty-nine Pallets
This year’s drive collected 23,557 pounds of food for Manna’s food pantry – the equivalent of 27,844 meals to our neighbors in need. Under the direction of ECPS’s Office of Community Involvement, and in conjunction with the District’s Warehouse Services department, Escambia County schools and district offices were able to deliver 29 pallets of boxes filled with food to Manna on Dec. 16.
Escambia County Public Schools, through donations of food and funds over the years, has provided more than 217,000 meals for our neighbors in need.
Manna Food Pantries is located at 3030 N. E St. in Pensacola. Over the past two years, Manna has experienced increased need and decreased food donations.
