ECT recommends 19 grants, total $5.1 million

The Escambia Children’s Trust Board of Directors will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and will vote on a recommendation to fund 19 out-of-school-time programs, totaling $5.1 million.  The previous recommendation was for $4.3 million, which the board tabled in December.

The biggest beneficiaries of the two-month delay are the YMCA of Northwest Florida and Benny Washington’s James B. Washington Education & Sports program, which didn’t make the December cut.

Six of the providers have programs in the 32505 zip code area, less than a third.
