ECUA accepts bid to demolish Main St. Plant

Press Release: The projection was for a bid as high as $3.5 million, but after the Emerald Coat Utilities Authority (ECUA) Board voted to accept a bid for $734,617.00, the Authority will now save $2,765,383.00 in demolition cost to tear down the 18.5-acre site of the former Main Street Wastewater Treatment Plant (MSWWTP) in downtown Pensacola.

On Thursday, June 23, 2011, in a vote of 4-0, ECUA Board members selected Cross Environmental Services (CES), Inc., of Crystal Springs, Florida as the lowest bidder. The bid project began on Thursday, May 19, 2011; as seven bids were received.

The Notification of Award is scheduled, Monday, June 27, 2011, as the Notification to Proceed (NTP) is projected on Monday, August 1, 2011. In addition, CES has 10 days to commence construction after NTP with time allowed achieving substantial completion of the project, 305 days from NTP. The time allowed to reach final completion of the project is 60 days after substantial completion of the project. The demolition project is scheduled for completion in July 2012.
