Everything with Emerald Coast Utility Authority is a negotiation. Cleaning up the water that it supplied the to Gulf Breeze in the 1990s; the IP pipeline to clean up Perdido Bay; Relocation of the Main St. plant; and now curbside recycling.
Nothing is done easily when any government tries to work with ECUA. Now they are threatening a lawsuit with the county because the county requires them to use the landfill owned by the taxpayers.
This lawsuit will block curbside recycling. And watch ECUA use it to leverage the county commission and Pensacola city council on the recycling issue.
It may be time to disband ECUA. It’s an extra layer of government that we don’t need.
