The Pensacola EggFest squad teamed up with Team Moe Cason and brought home 3rd place for Pork Shoulder in the World Barbecue Cooking Contest in Memphis.

Pensacola EggFest and Moe Cason Team compete and win in Memphis
PENSACOLA, Fla. (May 24, 2023) – Pensacola’s very own Pensacola EggFest squad teamed up with Team Moe Cason and brought home 3rd place for Pork Shoulder in the World Barbecue Cooking Contest in Memphis.
The grilling contest is part of the Memphis in May International Festival held May 17 – 20. Champion Pit Master Big Moe Cason is the host of National Geographic’s World of Flavor and winner of more than 35+ BBQ competitions. Recognized by USA Today as the “Most Prestigious Barbecue Contest,” the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is a four-day competition held in Memphis. This year the organization handed out more than $145,000 in prize money. The pork grilling competition includes ribs, shoulder, and whole hog, as well as hot wings, sauce, and “Anything But Pork” categories.
Cofounder Jerold Hall said the win is due recognition for the team’s hard work and Chef Big Moe Cason’s quest.
“The Pensacola EggFest squad has been at it for some time and teaming with Moe for 6 years in his quest to take it all at the World Championship Barbecue event,” said Hall. “This win is the culmination of a lot of work to refine our craft. It feels good and we’re stoked to bring it home to Pensacola.”
Pensacola EggFest saw record participation in 2022 that boosted its support of community charities. A record $113,500 was given to local charities as a result of this Pensacola foodie event. The event whose motto is #goodfood for a #goodcause, creates a culinary mash-up of friendships, camaraderie and delicious nosh.
