EntreCon Leadership Workshop: Active Listening

Studer Community Institute will present a leadership development workshop featuring Doug Bates of Clark Partington–Attorneys at Law on Tuesday, March 24, at the Maritime Building. The session, titled “The Power of Active Listening,” will explore how mastering listening skills can drive leadership growth and enhance team performance.

Active listening is a critical skill for today’s leaders, enabling stronger communication, collaboration, and trust within organizations. Bates will share actionable strategies to help leaders engage more effectively with their teams, foster better workplace relationships, and make more informed decisions.

“Active listening is one of the most powerful skills we can develop as leaders and professionals,” said SCI Executive Director Katie Ballard. “Spending time learning from an expert like Doug Bates helps attendees move beyond simply hearing others to truly understanding them. It helps strengthen relationships, improves collaboration and creates opportunities for meaningful personal and professional growth.”

Beyond Doug’s legal areas of practice as a litigator, he thrives on sharing his passion for leadership development. He speaks to organizations and groups of leaders to share specific tools, like active listening, with them while using each experience to also learn and grow his own leadership toolbox.

“Doug is a dynamic speaker,” shared SCI Director of Building Jobs Chris Heahey. “He brings a unique message that is relatable to every audience.  Attendees will leave the workshop with new tools that they can use immediately.”

The EntreCon Workshop Series aims to equip business professionals, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders with tools and knowledge to grow personally and professionally. The workshops also offer opportunities for networking and connecting with Pensacola’s local business community.

The workshop begins at 8:30am at the Maritime Building. Registration is required – details are on the website.
