Sustainable Gulf Coast and 350 Pensacola are hosting a talk this evening by Samantha Sexton, Florida Representative of the Gulf of Mexico Fish Conservation Campaign.

What: Talk by Samantha Sexton, Florida Representative of the Gulf of Mexico Fish Conservation Campaign

Where: Bayview Senior Resource Center, Meeting Room 101, 2000 E. Lloyd Street, Pensacola, FL 32503 (in East Hill)

When: Tuesday, February 12, 7 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

Please join us for our February meeting. Sustainable Gulf Coast and 350 Pensacola co-host this talk by Samantha Sexton, the Florida Representative of the Gulf of Mexico Fish Conservation Campaign. She is a native Floridian and holds a BA in Political Science/International Relations from the University of Florida.

Samantha will talk about the goals, strategies, and results of the Pew Environment Group’s Southeast Fish Conservation Campaign. The campaign is focused on keeping our oceans and their inhabitants healthy for the enjoyment of future generations, but also on educating local activists about how they can help safeguard future generations from a degraded ecosystem.

Learn more about the Pew Environment group and how it got involved in ocean conservation, its efforts to end and prevent overfishing, and its expanded focus to protect forage species that are important to a healthy marine food web. Samantha will also discuss how climate change is affecting marine ecosystems.
