Kim Krupa submitted her resignation yesterday, effective Oct. 13. Krupa has served for the past year as Escambia Children’s Trust‘s Director of Programs and Performance.
The board members were notified after lunch that Krupa, who wrote the Trust’s Needs Assessment Report and won national recognition for getting the 2020 referendum passed for the Trust, cited personal reasons, “feeling it was the right thing for her family,” according to Interim Executive Director, Tammy Abrams.
- “We will miss Kim terribly, and she has assured me that she will be a phone call away if we need her,” Abrams wrote her board.
Why this matters
The Trust has millions of dollars in grants that have been issued and are up for renewal in the next few months. The metrics and performance analysis serve as the basis for whether the recipients receive any more money.
Dig Deeper
Krupa should give the board a final report on each grant before she leaves, regardless of what stage the program is in. This is a $10 million operation in its infancy that can’t afford to misuse tax dollars.
- Krupa’s resignation comes less than a month after former executive director Tammy Greer resigned.
As the Trust’s second-in-command, Krupa was considered for the interim position but told board member Stephanie White that she needed to stay at her post because of the upcoming grant renewals.
Surprise: Opening Doors Moves Up CoC Meeting
John Johnson, Opening Doors Northwest Florida executive director, has moved up the organizational meeting for the Continuum of Care governance board two weeks – to today at 9 a.m.
Has Johnson violated Florida Sunshine Law?
Section 120.525, Florida Statutes, requires all agencies to publish notices of public meetings, hearings, and workshops, including those related to rulemaking, on the agency’s website not less than seven (7) days before the event.
Changes
The new invitation includes City Councilwoman Allison Patton and Janay Sims from CareerSource Escarole.
- The Opening Doors staff have been dropped, except for Johnson.
- Ben Boutwell has been deleted, too. He resigned as Century’s mayor two weeks ago .
