UF Dean Nick Place has sent a letter to 4-4 youth, parents and supporters on his intent to purchase acreage. Here are the key paragraphs that I discussed on IN Your Head Radio today.
It is our desire to purchase acreage where animal and environmental sciences, nature study, and outdoor education could work together in one location. For this reason, I have supported that another site be vetted to address all of these areas. This would be acreage that the Escambia County 4-H Foundation would purchase for 4-H youth to use.
We will work with the Board of County Commissioners over the next several weeks to work out a partnership agreement and hope to have a full report back soon. I would ask that you remain patient and allow UF/IFAS Extension, Escambia County 4-H Foundation and the Board of County Commissioners to invest the time needed to evaluate the location in Barrineau Park that will result in advancing the local 4-H program.
