Last night, Mike Lowery, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1395, was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the Escambia County Democratic Executive Committee, replacing Cassandra McAway.
Clorissti Johnson Mitchell, who works for Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz, PLC, was elected vice chair. Deb Moore was elected DEC Secretary, Tom Brown Treasurer. DEC Steering Committee will be Dianne Krumel, Bill King, Jack Cerone, Mary Ann Andrews and past DEC Chairwoman Evalyn Narramore.
In a press release, DEC said the new leaders plan to strengthen the local Democratic Party by increasing Democratic voter turnout, getting young people involved and reaching out to current Democratic voters prior to the 2016 election.
“Clorissti and I will focus on registering new voters, educating and organizing our base, and working hard to improve our local party status,†stated Lowery.
