Escambia County has 206,554 registered voters – update over 210,000

Note: Supervisor of Elections David Stafford sent us this latest update on voter registration: Rick, we are actually up over 210,000 registered voters currently. The state pulled the official “books closed” numbers last night, and will report them in the next few days. As an FYI, we had over 900 new registrants during the extended registration period.

The Florida Department of State has finished entering all voter registration applications received in person or postmarked by the court-ordered Oct. 18, 2016 deadline. The Department is ahead of schedule for the of statewide mandatory early voting, which begins tomorrow, October 29.

From October 11, 2016 through 9 am today, 106,706 voters became newly registered voters in the Florida Voter Registration System (FVRS) database. Also as of 9 am this morning, 21,068 applications are pending at various stages of the process within the FVRS. The overwhelming majority of these pending applications (19,175) are at the county level, awaiting Supervisor of Elections’ or voter action.

The below chart provides a detailed breakdown of numbers as of 9 am this morning, Friday, October 28. As you read these numbers, please reference the following definitions and information:

· Incomplete at County means that the information provided by a voter is incomplete or unverifiable. Supervisors of Elections attempt (if enough information is available) to contact voters to complete the application or provide further proof of eligibility.
· Suspended to County means that an application has been entered by DOS into the FVRS database and sent down to the county for corrections in the record (such address provided not matching in the system) or further action to send to DHSMV.
· Applications being sent to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) means that an application has been entered into the FVRS database and is being sent to DHSMV in our nightly file for verification.
· Applications undergoing DOS review means that the application has already been entered into the FVRS database but was unable to be verified initially. DOS may review such applications multiple times in an effort to verify or correct an entry error (application or the data operator) before suspending to the county level.
· The number of pending applications in the FVRS database will never be “0.” The FVRS is a living database and the processing of voter registration applications occurs on an ongoing basis year round
