As of Wednesday, Oct. 11, Escambia County has had 414 new COVID-19 cases, five  deaths, and 26 hospitalizations. for the week. Last for the period of Sunday-Wednesday, the county only had 271 ,  two deaths and 11 hospitalizations. Our cases are up 53%, deaths 150% and hospitalizations 136%.
The last week of October – all seven days – only had 321 new cases. The last time the county had a higher four-day period for new cases was Aug 9-12 – three months ago.
The county update offers no information on the reasons for the increases or steps being taken by county officials to stem the outbreak. The update is only a recitation of the statistics – with the new daily numbers plugged in .
