Escambia County Schools Closed Jan. 30, expect to hear of more throughout the day

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has made the decision to close the Escambia County School District on Thursday, January 30, 2014. All extra-curricular activities have been canceled for tonight.

Information provided by the Escambia Emergency Operations Center indicates temperatures are expected to remain at or below freezing today with a hard freeze predicted for tonight. Due to these weather conditions, the danger of icy roads and bridges will continue to exist, making it hazardous for buses to transport students.

Employees and parents are encouraged to continue to remain home and stay off the road.
