Escambia County: Violent crimes down, clearance rate improved

The semi-annual Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) statistics for the first half of this year indicate that the number of violent crimes have decreased in Escambia County by 14.7 percent when compared to the first half of 2012. The overall crime rate is down 8.7 percent.

“Our heartfelt thanks go out to the men and women of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens for their partnership,” said Sheriff David Morgan. “You are making a difference.”

The report produced by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement also shows that Offense Clearance Rate has improved 23.2 percent over the same period, moving from 22.4 percent to 27.6 percent.
