Escambia County had 1,006 more Florida resident COVID-19 cases last week – 57% from the previous week. The positivity rate jumped from 8.5% to 10.1%. We had 16 more deaths, half of which were associated with long-term care facilities.

Last Friday, Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson told Inweekly that he expected the vaccine for COVID-19 to be available in the Pensacola area in January or February.
“We’ve been told the vaccine is going to come to hospitals directly,” said the mayor. Â “It starts with hospital workers, first responders, and then the long-term care. The next phase is like your essential workers.”
