Press release: Pensacola, FL – Escambia County Public Schools Superintendent Keith Leonard has announced that schools and district offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, due to possible inclement weather in the area. Additionally, all extra-curricular activities are canceled for the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
The National Weather Service forecasts severe weather moving through the area on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. In an abundance of caution, all schools and district offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. All extra-curricular activities are canceled for the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
“We anticipate normal district operations will resume on Thursday, January 18,” stated Superintendent Keith Leonard. “Of course, we’ll continue to work closely with local emergency operations officials to determine what is safest for our families and staff.”
District officials will continue to monitor weather updates, and members of the community are encouraged to do the same. If necessary, updates will be provided through local media, School Messenger, and the district website.
