Escambia schools show improvement in math scores

The Florida Department of Education has released the math scores for its school districts. Escambia grades 3-8 improved by 4 points over last year.  The district still trails the state average by 9 points.

Grades 3-8  2021: 42%  2022: 56%   Up 4%

Grades 3-5  2021: 48%  2022: 50%   Up 2%

Grades 6-8  2021: 37%  2022: 41%   Up 4%

In Algebra, Escambia improved by 6 points – narrowing the gap with the state average to 11 points.

Grades 12 & Lower 2021: 33%  2022: 38%   Up 5%

Grades 8 & Lower  2021: 70%  2022: 76%   Up 6%

Grades 9-12 2021: 22%  2022: 23%   Up 1%


In English Language Arts, Escambia held at 44% – 8 points below state average

Grades 3-8  2021: 44%  2022: 44%

Grades 3-5  2021: 49%  2022: 50%   Up 1%

Grades 6-8  2021: 51%  2022: 50%   Down 1%

Grades 9-10 2021: 43%  2022: 40%   Down 3%
