Evers and PLAN provide 500 books to re-entry program

State Sen. Greg Evers (District 2) partnered with the Panhandle Library Access Network (PLAN) to provide more than 500 books to the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution’s re-entry program. The books were donated by libraries throughout the Florida Panhandle and were selected to support the educational needs of inmates working on their high-school equivalency diplomas.

Inmates have extremely limited access to resources to assist with their transitioning and return to the outside community. The donated books include encyclopedias, dictionaries, textbooks, and subject-specific books to improve reading and learning skills.

“There is a real need to improve inmates’ chances of successfully re-entering society, finding jobs, and establishing a better life. Books like these are a big step in supporting that transition.”

Santa Rosa Correctional Institution is located in Milton, and houses adult male inmates.
