From Escambia County meteorologist Scottlin Williams Wilson:
WINTER WEATHER THREAT??: We are expecting an impactful winter storm across the area beginning as early as Tuesday morning and ending Tuesday evening.
1. We are cooler and breezy today, but the bitter cold is expected Monday-Wednesday, with feels like temps in the teens and single digits Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings.
2. Our chance of frozen precipitation is now high, at 70-90%. Scenario #1 in the graphic below, is what trends are pointing towards. This means most of Escambia County will see mostly snow, but a mix (freezing rain, snow, and sleet) is still possible along the immediate coast.
3. Timing for the main event of wintry precipitation in Escambia County looks to be after Noon on Tuesday, continuing into Tuesday evening. This does not mean that we can’t/won’t see some precip develop earlier.
4. Escambia County Accumulation: 1-3″. Greater than 3 inches is possible in heavier bands that develop. Right now, it is not possible to say where exactly these areas would be.
5. Some spots may not rise above freezing on Tuesday.
6. Because of the cold air mass that will already be in place, forecast accumulations will cause significant, if not major impacts.
7. WINTER STORM WATCH: in effect from 6 AM Tuesday – 6 AM Wednesday for Escambia County; COLD WEATHER ADVISORY: in effect for Escambia County Sunday night – Monday morning. Feels like temperatures will drops into the teens (possibly single digits) Sunday night – Monday morning.
She later added: Frostbite and hypothermia are possible if proper precautions are not taken.
