The Deepwater Horizon explosion and the subsequent oil spill into the Gulf of Mexico have gotten oil executives, attorneys and government officials seeing huge dollar amounts.
Lost in the uproar are the 11 men from Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi that disappeared when the floating platform exploded. Unless you live in their small towns, counties or parishes, unless you work offshore, or unless they were your friend or family member, then they are simply faceless statistics.
And when the millions of gallons of BP crude oil hit our shores, we may never ever think of them again. They will be just 11 men who died on a drilling platform.
