First Transit continues to screw around with drivers’ pay

From ATU

ECAT TRANSIT WORKERS NOT PAID FOR TRANSPORTING PENSACOLA CITIZENS OUT OF FLOOD ZONES TO SHELTERS.

On Saturday, June 9th, 2012 – while our beloved city was under water from the storms. Escambia County Area Transit employees worked to move citizens to shelters and safety. Some employees worked 16+ hours that day. Employees continued to work on Sunday June 10th to transport the people of Pensacola to and from shelters. Last Friday – it was payday and what happen? Well First Transit Management didn’t pay most employees their hours worked for Saturday. They claim that employees must wait till FEMA pays them. Did they say this the day of the floods? No they did not. To say the least employees were upset Friday and the Company received a stack of payroll discrepancy forms. Now was it true what they told employees about FEMA? That we’ll have to wait and see. Problems continue at ECAT with new Management team.

Union President Michael Lowery requested information pertaining to the emergency working conditions pay for Saturday and Sunday. Lowery asked for copies of all payroll for those days. This was requested on Monday, June 11th. As of this date the Company has ignored all email requests from Lowery. He has sent 3 emails to General Manager Mary Lou Franzoni.
