Fisher withdraws

From Todd Fisher:

To all my supporters, friends and potential voters:

I just submitted the following letter (9:15 AM) to David Stafford and withdrew from the Pensacola City Council District 3 race. Obviously I am very troubled and deeply saddened by some recent chain of events but per the below letter I do not want to cause myself, the voters or the election process any undue controversy. I have too much character and moral heart to do so. The city, county or perhaps even the state will see me again in 2 years. Thank you everyone for the support. As I have had the fortunate opportunity to meet some truly unique and great people, I hope to stay in touch with everyone. Formal letter is below.

Thank you, Todd

Attention Mr. Stafford, Supervisor of Elections

It has been brought to my attention and for a reason I cannot explain that my address of record on my voter registration card is dated 05/23/2008. Mistakenly under the assumption that I completed an address change on 04/01/2007, per the language and the traditional reading of the City Charter, this disqualifies me from holding office within City Council.

As a long time native of District 3, and a current resident in District 3 for 2 years now, I am saddened by this unfortunate and technical miscommunication. As a person of great character and moral heart, I do not want to run and assume office under any controversy. For this reason, I humbly withdraw from the race for Pensacola City Council District 3.

I apologize to the voters and my supporters during the initial phase of this historic election cycle. It would have been my hope to have such information brought to my attention prior to the current date so as to provide time and insure another dynamic, honest candidate to rise out of District 3.

To that end, I strongly encourage all voters to find a candidate they believe in and vote this election season. Pensacola is on the verge of being a truly remarkable city and we need elected officials with courage and innovation to realize this potential. It is my hope that all voters voice their ideas and unite this city as we move forward over the next 2 years.

Thank You

Todd Fisher
