Florida Chamber honors Rep. Ingram

Press Release: Today Representative Ingram received the Florida Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Advocate Award for his work in the 2011 legislative session in support of legislation designed to reduce burdens on consumers and bring jobs back to Florida.

The Distinguished Advocate Award recognizes legislators who championed key issues for businesses in Florida. The Award honors legislators who tirelessly fought for pro-job, pro-business measures aimed at getting Floridians back to work.

The Chamber specifically commended Representative Ingram’s sponsorship of legislation that removed statutory restrictions preventing health insurance providers from offering incentives for voluntary participation in wellness programs and for Representative Ingram’s support of economic recovery legislation designed to assist panhandle businesses adversely impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

“This year’s legislative session was a contentious one,” said former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and current Florida Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Allan Bense. “Despite fierce opposition by special interest groups supporting the status quo, each of our Distinguished Advocates went above and beyond to pass important reform bills that will secure Florida’s future by creating high-skill, high-wage jobs.”

“Creating a positive business climate in Florida in order to foster job growth was one of the main reasons that I sought elected office,” said Representative Ingram. “I’m glad that I was able to play a role in moving closer to this goal in my first year as a legislator. I am appreciative to the Florida Chamber for recognizing our efforts in the 2011 session.”
