Florida College System’s State Softball Championship returns May 2-4

The Pensacola Sports Association (PSA) in coordination with the City of Pensacola Department of Neighborhood Services, and Pensacola State College, is pleased to announce that the three entities will be hosting the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Women’s Fast Pitch Softball Championship. This is the fourth year of a four-year contract.

From May 2 – May 4, 16 teams from across Florida who have qualified for the state tournament will make their way to Pensacola to compete for the opportunity to advance to the national tournament. This championship actually consists of two district tournaments and a state championship game. The two district champions will advance to play for the national championship in St. George, Utah.

The 16 schools include, from the Atlantic District: College of Central Florida, Daytona State College, Eastern Florida State College, Lake-Sumter State College, Indian River State College, Miami Dade College, Santa Fe College, and Seminole State College. From the Gulf District: Chipola College, Gulf Coast State College, Hillsborough Community College, Northwest Florida State College, Polk State College, Tallahassee Community College, St. Petersburg College, State College of Florida.

Michael J. DeSorbo/ Exchange Park will hold all games at its four-field complex.

Tickets will be available at the gate at Exchange Park for $7 and $5 for students ages 5 to 18. All area youth players will receive free admittance when wearing his/her team uniform. Children 4 and under are free. Three day tournament passes are $18.

Last year, Santa Fe won the Atlantic District and Chipola won the Gulf District, which guaranteed them a spot at the JUCO National Tournament. In the state championship game, Chipola won 8-5.
