Ford suggest deep cuts to commission salaries

According to WEAR’s Dan Thomas, Clay Ford has suggested to putting county commissioner pay on equal footing with state legislators.

In Escambia County that would mean a pay cut of about 44 grand a year… Santa Rosa commissioners would lose about 25 grand a year and Okaloosa County commissioners would lose about 30 grand a year.

In March, Escambia County commissioners passed, 4-1, a resolution asking the state legislators to give county commissioners statewide a 10 percent pay cut after Grover Robinson championed the issue – much to the chagrin of his fellow commissioners. Eventually Kevin White got on board and the resolution – which is virtually meaningless – passed.
