Florida Power & Light lineman Christopher Fairley won a new car from United Way of West Florida last week.
How? Kia AutoSport of Pensacola donated the new car to encourage donors to give to United Way of West Florida during its annual fundraising campaign. Every donor giving $300 or more was eligible to win. Fairley’s name was randomly drawn from hundreds of entries.

Christopher Fairley thought that he was going to Kia Autosport of Pensacola for just a simple service call. Little did he know that his supervisor and co-workers were helping United Way of West Florida surprise him with a brand-new KIA!
Christopher works as a lineman at Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). He has worked there for over 20 years and is a long-time donor to United Way of West Florida.
“My stepson is active duty military and his car just went out on him about 6 months ago. We didn’t want him getting a motorcycle, so we have been searching for a car,” said Christopher Fairley. “We rarely win anything, not even the baskets, so getting to win this was a surprise!”
Keith Johnson, operations leader for FPL, said, He was the lucky guy this year and on National Linemen Appreciation Day, so it’s a double whammy. We appreciate United Way of West Florida and Chris, who has given to United Way for many years.”

“This day is always such a good day, to see the winner’s face and the excitement,” said Jessica Lee, Kia AutoSport of Pensacola Vice President, and General Manager. “We enjoy our partnership because United Way gives back to so many organizations in our community.”
“Kia AutoSport of Pensacola is an incredibly generous partner,” said Laura Gilliam, United Way of West Florida President, and CEO. “Their donation of a vehicle helps us improve the health, education and financial stability of individuals and families in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. We are grateful to them!”
