The GOP presidential hopeful that caught a lot of local interest is Fred Thompson – former U.S. senator, sometime actor. Unfortunately for the local politicos, Thompson is no longer considered a viable candidate. Ron Paul gets more press than Thompson.
To make matters worse, CNN reports that Thompson said at a New Hampshire event, “I’m not particularly interested in running for president.”
Thompson did go on to clarify: “”But I think I’d make a good president. I have the background, capability, and concern to do this and I’m doing it for the right reasons. I am not consumed by personal ambition. I’m offering myself up.”
So if the Republican voters nominate him, he will run. That is exactly the same way I feel about my candidacy – if nominated, I will run.
