Free Post-Race Concert Added to 2012 Double Bridge Run

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at 7 p.m. at Seville Quarter….The Pensacola Sports Association (PSA) in partnership with Seville Quarter and Bud Light are pleased to announce it will be adding an Austin, TX recording group concert after the Double Bridge Run on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012. The concert is free for race participants and $10 for runner guests. A limited number of general public tickets may become available.

Austin, TX based Mingo Fishtrap will headline the concert beginning at 7 p.m. at the Seville Quarter courtyard, between Rosie O’ Gradys and Heritage Hall.

“We heard Mingo Fishtrap in Nashville and knew they would be a great addition to the already famous Double Bridge Run, which is quickly becoming one of the premier 15K races in the country,” said PSA Executive Director Ray Palmer. “There is no added cost to the participants. In addition to a pre-race meal, event t-shirt, post-race party with free food and drinks, a product expo, and a fantastic course from Pensacola to beautiful Pensacola Beach; now participants get a free concert to cap off the weekend.”

Mingo Fishtrap is an eight-person band that has written and released seven albums. As quoted from their website; “With a sound dancing between gutbucket soul, N’awlins grit-down funk and horn fueled Motown pop, Mingo Fishtrap is an anomaly in the contemporary music scene. With each album, the group gravitates closer to the classic sounds that inspired them to learn their craft. What’s old is new again.”

The group has toured and played across the country and abroad, and performed with musical greats Sting, Blues Traveler, Delbert McClinton, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Little Feat, George Clinton & P-Funk, MOFRO and Jonny Lang among others.

Currently the price for the race, which includes a 15K run beginning in downtown Pensacola and a 5K race beginning in Gulf Breeze, is only $30. On January 1, the price will go up to $40 for the 15K and $35 for the 5K.

Runners / walkers can register for the race at www.doublebridgerun.com.

“The purpose of adding this element to the event is twofold,” added Palmer. “We continually look to find ways to enhance our events, which we believe this does, and we want to create more of a reason for visitors to stay in our hotels and patronize our great community assets.”
