Gaetz wants McCarthy out of Speaker’s office

In anticipation of winning the House Speaker position, GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy moved into the speaker’s office. After losing three votes yesterday, Congressman Matt Gaetz sent a letter to J. Brett Blanton, the Architect of the Capitol, asking, “What is the basis in law, House rule, or precedent to allow someone who has placed second in three successive speaker elections to occupy the Speaker of the House Office?”

He continued, “How long will he remain there before he is considered a squatter?”

There have been two more votes today with no change in the count.
