The PNJ is reporting today that the “Ruby J. Gainer Charter School, a high school for at-risk teens, will not reopen in the fall because of low enrollment and looming legislative budget cuts.”
The school has barely stayed afloat for the past five years. IN reported in May 2007 that the school had fallen almost $95,000 in the hole, taking out a $37,000 loan one year to cover expenses and had been cited by auditors the previous three years for bad financial management.
