Sacred Heart Trauma Center, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office to Present Forum on Gangs in Our Community

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Sacred Heart Trauma Center and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Escambia County School District, will host a free public forum on “Protecting Our Children from Gangs” on Tuesday, March 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Greenhut Auditorium at Sacred Heart Hospital’s main campus.
The event, moderated by WEAR TV3’s Sue Straughn, will discuss the current state of gang activity in the Pensacola area and the impact that gang-related crime is having on our community and our children.
Speakers and topics to be discussed include:

• Gang Activity in Our Community – Sheriff David Morgan, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office

• How to Spot Gang Activity – Sgt. Rick Vinson, Gang Unit, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office

• Gang Activity & Our Schools – What’s Happening and How to Curb It – Steve Sharp, Director of Safety, Escambia County School District

• Gang Violence: Stories from a Trauma Surgeon – Dr. Karanbir Gill, trauma surgeon and medical director, Sacred Heart Trauma Center

After the talks, audience members will be able to ask questions to the presenters, and light refreshments will be served.
