Gannett blogger on radio show

Jim Hopkins, the author of The Gannett Blog, will be on IN Your Head Radio today on NewsRadio 1620AM between 1-2 p.m. Hopkins writes that he is. “Not in management. Not a union member. No ax to grind. And Gannett Blog has no formal affiliation with Gannett Co. Inc.” However, he offers insights into the workings of the media giant that owns our daily news, Pensacola News Journal.

Hopkins started his blog anonymously at first and only recently revealed his identity after retiring as a USA Today reporter and editor.

Hopkins describes his blog:

Wrenching changes are sweeping the newspaper industry, and the Gannett Co. Inc. isn’t being spared. More than 100 years after Frank Gannett and partners started the company with a single newspaper in Elmira, N.Y., Gannett and its 50,000 workers are trying to find a way out of this mess.

That’s what Gannett Blog is all about. I’m a former USA Today reporter and editor now chronicling the fall and rise again (hopefully!) of the nation’s biggest newspaper publisher, and one of the largest private employers. It’s a case study of an unfolding corporate crisis — live-blogged.
