Gatlin sets world-leading time in relay

Pensacolian Jutins Gatlin was part of the Aemrican 4x100m relay team that set the fastest time in the world this year in the Monaco Diamond League meet yesterday. Gatlin ran with Trell Kimmons, Tyson Gay and Ryan Bailehe and they beat the United States’ second team of Mike Rodgers, Maurice Mitchell, Travis Patton and Jeff Demps.

The USA and world record-holders Jamaica are expected to be the two main contenders for 4x100m gold at the Olympics in London.

The world record is 37.04 sec. The Gatlin team ran it in 37.61 sec.
