From IN Buzz:SOCCER TURMOIL Area high school soccer coaches are scratching their heads over what’s going on inside the winning Gulf Breeze High School girls’ soccer program. Three seniors, who have played every varsity game since their freshman year, were cut from the varsity before the 2006-2007season. One player has at least one major college scholarship offer and another was the two-year team captain.
Parents and players have tried to reconcile the situation with coaches, administrators and school board members, but the players have not been reinstated. They are left playing their senior year on an area select team.
And that may be the rub here. The three players cut all play for the Pensacola Futbol Club. The Gulf Breeze High School girl’s varsity coach is a coach for the rival Bayside Soccer program. There are six Bayside players on the school’s varsity squad. Only one PFC player remains.
