Goodin gets opponent-Jim Melvin

From Jim Melvin:

Jim Melvin has pre-filed for District 4 County Commissioner’s seat in Santa Rosa County. Jim is a native of Santa Rosa County, and is the second child of the late Judge Woodrow M. Melvin Sr. and Juanita Weekes Melvin, of Santa Rosa County. Jim has and older brother, Woodrow M (Mac) Melvin Jr., and three sisters, Judge Laura Melvin, Beulah Melvin Chabl, and Ginger Melvin.

He attended the public schools of Santa Rosa and graduated from Milton High. Jim has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration , and a Masters of Accountancy, both from University of West Florida.

He served as a pilot in the Air Force for more than 23 years. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Jim enrolled again at UWF and completed the Master of Accountancy degree, then passed the Certified Public Accountant’s exam.

He worked in Santa Rosa County as a CPA for several years, primarily in the south end of county, before returning to retirement.

Jim’s family has a long history of public service, and feels that people who seek public office must be held to the highest of ethical standards, and have something of value to offer the public they want to serve.

“I believe that my military training and experience, together with my business education and background give me the right mix of skills and common sense to be of service to the people of Santa Rosa County. If elected, I will focus on economic development, and continue to strengthen our ties with our military bases. I am committed to ensuring that the people of Santa Rosa County have open, honest and affordable government.“

He is married to Audrey Gilley Melvin, also of Santa Rosa County. Jim and Audrey have a family of three children, fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild
