Gov. Scott reappoints Lewis

Press Release: Governor Rick Scott today announced the reappointment of Jeffrey E. Lewis of Pensacola as Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel for the First District Court of Appeal.

“During his four years as Regional Counsel, Jeffrey has successfully demonstrated the ability to effectively and efficiently manage cases, while also saving taxpayers millions of dollars,” Governor Scott said. “I am confident he will continue his record of good service to the the First District.”

Lewis has served as Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel for the First District Court of Appeal since 2007. Previously, he was an assistant public defender in the Pensacola Office of the Public Defender from 1998 to 2007. From 1992 to 1993, he was a staff attorney with First National Life Insurance Company, and from 1986 to 1992, an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney, First Judicial Circuit. He practiced as a sole practitioner from 1993 to 1998 and in 1984, and with Lewis, Dennis and Lewis from 1984 to 1986.

Lewis received his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and law degree from the University of Alabama.
