Pensacola City Hall
Mid-November Finish Expected
Crews are finishing drainage, curbs and pavers at South Palafox and Government streets before a major resurfacing of Government from Baylen to Tarragona.
The City of Pensacola has begun the last phase of the New Palafox project, and officials expect the entire project to wrap up in mid-November.
- Adrianne Walker, the city’s Strategic Initiatives Project Officer, gave the update at Mayor D.C. Reeves’ press conference on Oct. 28.
“We are winding down that project. This is sort of the last phase of it.”

Where crews are now. Work is underway at the intersection of Government and Palafox, on both sides of the street. Traffic remains open northbound and southbound on Palafox.
- West side: Most of the drainage features are in. Crews are doing curb work and then hardscaping, which Walker said should wrap up soon.
- East side: The drainage work is more intensive, and crews are working on it now. Similar curbing and paver work will follow.
The final step. The last piece of the project is to mill and resurface Government Street from Baylen to Tarragona. Walker called it a fairly large undertaking because it covers a long stretch of city blocks.
The plan is to mill the entire stretch at once and resurface immediately afterward. Walker estimated the work will take three to five days.
