Group wants Navarre to be a city

Citizens to Incorporate Navarre,a political action committee, is seeking to make the southeast corner of Santa Rosa County–from Okaloosa County line to Holley by the Sea– the county’s fourth–and largest– city.

The last effort was five years ago when the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce formed a task force and commissioned a $50,000 feasibility study, but that fell apart as the real estate market plummeted and other interests (Bill Pullam?) derailed it. We hear that the chamber is not backing this new effort.

The city boundaries being discussed include Holley by the Sea, Navarre Beach and Holley, which would give the City of Navarre a population of nearly 35,000.

Here is the group’s website.

One concept being discussed is the outsourcing of all city services. The website has a video on Sandy Springs, GA which did just that.
