Grover delivers upper cut

Another email to Chamber board:

I am using this email because everyone is on it. I am shocked that the private sector leadership has allowed and even encouraged reckless slander to prevent serious discussion on the problems that face our community.

We have serious economic challenges facing us as a community. Playing to tabloid innuendo will not help us.

We must be prepared to evaluate all options, even if those options that do not appear to be in our immediate best interest. It is leadership and it is time we show some. We can not lose sight of the goal and the vision of where we want to be. I am confident if we stay focused we will achieve that.

The Chamber is an organization I have always supported and believe in. It is vital if not imperative to our community’s ultimate success that private sector leadership is actively vested and participating for the community’s benefit.

I hope this exchange of emails has shown two things. One, I will adamantly and vehemently defend myself from maliciously false speculation. Second, I am committed to the ultimate success of this community even if it comes at the cost of me personally. The Chamber and the private sector leadership I have always admired has always been committed to the latter.

Whether its supporting a consumption tax for mass transit or devising a minority tourism program, I have and will continue to support programs to move our community forward, even if they cost me business, friends and votes. The community is bigger than any of us individually or even the organizations we represent. It is time we begin to act like that.

The next three weeks will be active. I hope I can count on each of you to support our community. I hope private sector leadership will be a part of the solution.

Thank you in advance for your time, commitment and consideration.

Grover
