Gulf Coast Kid’s House needs volunteers to teach abuse prevention in schools

Gulf Coast Kid’s House (GCKH), a child advocacy center in Escambia County, is seeking volunteers to bring child abuse prevention education into area schools. One out of four children will be victimized in their lifetime. However, 95 percent of abuse is preventable through education.

GCKH teaches MBF Child Safety Matters™ in elementary schools across Escambia County. It is trusted by parents, schools, and administrators. It is supported by national subject matter experts, community leaders, and agencies in the education and prevention fields, including Dr. David Finkelhor of the Crimes Against Children Research Center, the Florida Attorney General, and the Florida Department of education, among others. The program is also supported and recommended by Erin Merryn, founder of Erin’s Law, which mandates child sexual abuse prevention education in schools.

All volunteers will be required to complete comprehensive training and a Level 2 background check. As a Prevention Educator at Gulf Coast Kid’s House, volunteers can expect to teach 4-5 times a year. All interested volunteers should submit a volunteer application online at www.gulfcoastkidshouse.org
